It has been interesting to observe the way flight has been a recurring theme in my work. Angels and birds keep reappearing. Now these winged beings have transformed into cranes, which can fly in flocks. In the first paintings, they fly above people who are both moving themselves and being carried along by boats. Generations of traveling beings enter and leave the space and time of the paintings, looking forward and looking back. Most recently, I’ve released the people from gravity, and they have been able to join the flocks that used to fly above them.

I remain on my quest to capture both the physical truth of observation and the emotional truth of transcendence and impermanence. I want to honor my ancestors and those who will come after me. I want to bear witness to what we do in the world and what we do in our hearts. I am painting my way into the finding the language for this. I am following and finding, finding and following.
