Facing the Wheel

The wheel of Facing the Wheel is the big wheel of time. The cycle Transformation: Family (2018-2019), an homage to the impermanence of not just individuals, but generations. In these paintings, my family members and I travel across space and time with flocks of crows, always separate and always together. You can see these paintings here. My current body of work, Transformation: Climate (2020-present), grew out of realizing the arc of my family resides within the greater arc of time, and contemplating our extraordinary historical moment: the climate crisis threatens all life on earth, while solving it presents the possibility of global transformation to a just and equitable world. This cycle begins with the images of these twin possibilities, and continues with a vision of humanity as an integral part of a verdant, completely interconnected world.
