Mural artist Eurhi Jones and I co-curated this show of a diverse group of Philadelphia artists in a visual conversation about resilience, grief and hope, in response to the current climate moment. We invited visitors to join the conversation by reflecting on and sharing their own thoughts and feelings about climate change and the environment. This exhibition offers the power of art to create connection with the natural world and between ourselves, connections that are vital as we creatively transform the future together.
This show complemented Summer Spree, the Community Arts Center’s summer art camp, and its theme, RENEW. I created resources and did a presentation for Summer Spree teachers about creating art curriculum about the environment. Three of the artists in the All In show, including me, each created and taught this kind of environmental curriculum at Summer Spree, so that our climate conversation could include young people as well as adults.
