Summer Art Camp
Summer camp is a chance for your child to enjoy learning art skills and self-expression in a relaxed setting with lots of personal attention. Read on to see how it works!
- When Camp Is Offered
Summer camp will be structured in one-week sessions. You can sign your child up for as many or as few weeks as you would like. There will be a session every week from the week of June 9 to the week of August 25, except for the weeks of July 13 & 21, and August 11 & 18. The week of June 30 can be a four-day week with a reduced rate if your family would like to have Friday, July 4 off.
Half Day and Full Day Options
Art camp will run from 8:30 to 11:45. If you would like a full day of activities for your child, I can also sign you up for the Germantown YMCA’s afternoon summer camp, which focuses on swimming, sports, and other physical activities—a nice complement to art. If you choose this option, your child should bring lunch. We will have a picnic together, and then I will walk him or her over to the Y. The Y’s summer camp ends at 4:30, with extended care until 6:30.
What We Will Be Doing in Art Camp
Each week will have a specific focus, like working with the figure and with portrait, or bookmaking, or textiles. Each day, we’ll spend part of the time doing 2D projects, like drawing and painting, and part of the time doing 3D projects, like sculpture. Projects will be designed to be developmentally appropriate for each age group so that they are challenging without being frustrating. I’m excited about teaching solid art skills and helping each person express his or her unique vision. Our classes together will be fun and inspiring!
What Art Camp Costs
Half-day summer art camp costs $175 a week, which includes materials. Partial scholarships are available. A full day, which includes the YMCA’s fee, costs $325 a week. Extended care at the Y costs $10 extra a week.

I will be offering after-school art classes and adult drawing and painting classes this fall. Stay posted for more details! Meanwhile, if YOU yourself would like to take an art class rather than letting your children have all the fun, you can! Let me know your needs, and we can create a class around your schedule.
